iKids Play™ provides educator developed activities to promote creative play by our “i” generation kids. Created by the team at Sehring Solutions LLC, the folks that brought you Maggie Tales™, Instant Storytime™ for Kids.

The first product designed for "i" generation kids was Maggie Tales, Instant Storytime for Kids.  The origin of Maggie Tales can be found at www.MaggieTales.com.  

As technology evolved, I began to look for ways that traditional portable creative activities we used with our son could be adapted for kids born since the introduction of the iPod almost eight years ago (thus the term "i" generation kids). Additionally, the parents of these "i" generation kids are "I" generation parents, meaning that they were born or grew-up after the launch of the Internet (or World Wide Web).  

It all came together during a coffee discussion with an elementary teacher friend.  She commented that gaming devices did not leave anything to the imagination such as coloring, drawing, and the like.  Then serendipity kicked in. A mom was using items in her "mommy survival bag" (an oversized bag containing children's picture books, coloring books, crayons, drawing pads, and markers) for her young daughter while she was having coffee with a friend.  On the drive home the pieces fell in place and iKids Play, Creative play for "i" generation kids! was born.

What is most exciting, is to watch kids playing with the product.  The young ones love the Rub 'n Color activity; others like Touch 'n Color; the older kids love hearing the recording of themselves when using iRead Aloud (this activity is popular with parents because of the reading practice); still others like just listening to Storytime. Everyone, including adults loves playing with iFinger Paint.  My 13 year-old son even plays tic-tac-toe with iFinger Paint when not drawing and emailing me creative works of art from my iPhone (or iPod Touch).
